A collective “WTF?” on Slashdot is a common thing - the RIAA going after a 10-year-old girl, Microsoft’s updates doing nothing more than updating the registry descriptors - but now it seems that anyone who uses Firefox is a content thief. Well, according to a certain right-wing capitalist numpty. More information here - I may attempt an investigation and find out if any of these claims are true (which I highly doubt) and if the author has any kind of credibility.
(That’ll be two investigative journalism items in one week - and it’s not even your birthday!)
I’m incredibly disappointed at this. While I don’t work for the British armed forces (therefore this blog will continue to be updated unless I get run over by a bus tomorrow), those who do, as well as being sent out to war before being dumped back here with nearly zero support, are now banned from blogging or posting on Internet BBSs.
Mercifully, the ban only extends to experiences whilst on duty, but all the same it’s restricting freedom of speech for those who willingly fight for the country. According to the guidelines
all such communication must help to maintain and, where possible, enhance the reputation of defence
If you ask me, this is censorship on a massive scale - something not dissimilar to the rewriting of history in Nineteen Eighty-Four.
