I’ve been following the ultrasub-notebook market very closely of late. Eee PCs (and MacBook Airs) have been selling like hotcakes, whilst other manufacturers have somewhat failed to penetrate the market.
However, I’ve just come across the HP Mini-Note. (True, that’s a rubbish name, but it’s better than “Eee PC”, or, worse still, “G-DIUM” - what were they on when they thought of that?) And, I have to say, it looks to be a very promising little machine.
I wouldn’t say the hp min-note is a contender at all, it’s got 2gb of ram a almost 200gb hd,full sized keyboard and much much more for only a fraction more than the EEE pc.

Have you seen the newer Eees though? The 90x and 100x models have a spinning HDD option (coupled with bigger SSDs) and came with more RAM. It’s also relatively easy to upgrade the RAM in an Eee PC - it took me less than ten minutes to bump the RAM in mine to 2gB, it would have been quicker if I didn’t have to document it. Performance has improved significantly since then.

Ive seen one new (er) eee pc in pc world, im to keen on the rather large gap between the main part of the eee pc and the screen itself, but overall a good looking pc.
